Databases:
All projects undertaken by HGF members are undertaken with the spirit and devotedness of preserving family history records for future generations of researchers. Some of the projects undertaken by HGF member volunteers will be placed in searchable databases in order to share the genealogical data with fellow researchers.

I.  Newspaper Death Extraction Project
Our Newspaper Deaths Extraction Project Phase I and II under the direction of Terri Harris and Karen Wilk is completed and uploaded to the website.  The data gives source information where full information relating to the deaths of these listed names can be found.

The Houston Genealogical Forum's Newspaper Death Extraction Project includes extracted death notices in any section of the selected newspapers - not just an Obituary section.  This database includes selected newspapers and selected dates available on microfilm from the years 1899-1908 from the following newspapers: Houston Chronicle; Houston Chronicle and Herald; Houston Daily Post; Houston Post.  Although the newspaper microfilm may be located elsewhere, For conveniene, the local repositories used for this project were:  The Fondren Library located at Rice University and The Neumann Library located at the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

The Houston Genealogical Forum does not have the original records only the specific extracted data listed.  If you find an ancestor you want more information on, you will need to go to the exact source listed to obtain any additional information or details.

II:  Bible Transcription Project with Bible Images
In order to preserve the family history records found within the Bible Collection at the Bible in America Museum at Houston Baptist University, The Houston Genealogical Forum under the direction of Gloria Wright Russell undertook this transcription project in four phases. The purpose of the project is to provide the genealogical community the family history images and information found within the designated Bibles. The end product is a searchable database available to researchers via the HGF website .

The Houston Genealogical Forum does not have the original Bibles and if you find an ancestor you want more information on or would like to see the original Bible, please contact the Dunham Bible Museum on the campus of Houston Baptist University, Houston, Texas to make proper arrangements and check hours of service.

Officer Reports
General Meeting Minutes, including officer reports, and other special reports of the type and format selected by the HGF Board will be posted for review by HGF members.

Speaker Handouts from HGF Programs:
Within this member section will be handouts from many HGF general meeting programs with tips and research guidelines from local and national speakers made available with speaker permission for HGF members.

Online Features
Our website is a work-in-progress and as such many searchable and printable features will be available to HGF members not available to non-members.  These will include officer reports, speaker's handouts, a discussion board, an Internet resources list, an organization surname search, and a member directory.

Discussion Board
Although HGF has a discussion board, because of inactivity, HGF has opted to use YAHOO GROUPS to disseminate information to its members by way of this form of e-mail  communication.  As an HGF member, you are added to the HGFTX_Yahoo Group list and all messages are disseminated in this fashion which allows members to respond to the discussion if they so desire.  However, remember if you want a personal response, you should send to the individual as the Yahoo messages go to all.  See About Us to get officer contact information.
