May 2008 - 50th Year Proclamations and Congratulatory Letters
HGF / HBU Bible in America Transcription Project Announcement The Curator of the Houston Baptist University, Bible in America Museum, Diana Severance, contacted 2004 HGF President, Gloria Wright Russell, to entertain the possibility of preserving family history records from the Bible in America Museum collection of bibles. Village News / Southwest News The local weekly newspaper, The Village News / Southwest News, recently recognized the Houston Genealogical Forum and Phase I of the Forum's volunteer project to extract and index all deaths mentioned in Houston newspapers in it's interview one of our volunteers, Faye Conrads. City of Houston Proclamation - 2005 The City of Houston honored the Houston Genealogical Forum and genealogy in general by issuing a Proclamation naming October 2005 as 'Family History Month.'
Houston Genealogical Forum member and immediate past president, Gloria Wright Russell, approached the Mayor's office for a Proclamation to observe October as 'Family History Month'.
City of Houston Proclamation - 2004 The City of Houston honored the Houston Genealogical Forum and genealogy in general by issuing a Proclamation naming October 2004 as 'Family History Month.'
Houston Genealogical Forum member and immediate past president, Gloria Wright Russell, approached the Mayor's office for a Proclamation to observe October as 'Family History Month'.
City of Houston Proclamation - 2003 The City of Houston honored the Houston Genealogical Forum and genealogy in general by issuing a Proclamation naming October 2003 as 'Family History Month.'
Houston Genealogical Forum President, Gloria Wright Russell, approached the Mayor's office in August of 2002 informing them of the national movement to declare each Octoer as 'Family History Month' and to celebrate it accordingly. She also reaffirmed the status of Houston's own Clayton Library - Center for Genealogical Research as one of the top genealogical research facilities in the country.
